novathesis 7.6 — Sustainable Development Goals, and seven new languages

SDG icons on the abstract page, seven more languages for covers and fixed strings, and the Palatino font styles.

Two additions in this release reach well beyond any single school.

SDG icons

Theses increasingly state which Sustainable Development Goals the work contributes to. The template can now print the official SDG icons on the abstract page, in English or Portuguese, in the normal, inverted or monochrome style.

The icons come from joaomlourenco/SDGs, a companion repository of high-quality vector (SVG and PDF) versions of the goals in seven languages. From 8.1.0 onwards the template downloads the set it needs on demand, so nothing ships in the template itself.

Seven new languages

Covers and fixed strings gained Danish (dk), Catalan (cat), Czech (cz), Slovak (sk), Polish (pl) and Dutch (nl), among others — useful for a cotutelle, an exchange, or a jury that reads in another language.

Also new: the palatino, palatino-gyre-pagella and palatino-linotype font styles, and school configurations standardised into *-defaults files, which is what makes adding a school a matter of one file rather than several.
